About the Event

"Admission: Free entry! Welcome to the Key of She, a monthly music improv night for any musician who is female, non-binary, or trans! Non-musicians can be invited, but these people must also be female, non-binary or trans in order to keep the space's focus on including these groups, and keeping it safe. This will be a space for such musicians to come along and develop their improv skills, and become a part of a Sheffield/Northern collective of female and non-binary musicians, where we can support each other, and perhaps even play for each other! Each session we will have a GUEST OF HONOUR, an established musician with a love for improv, who will kick the night off with an inspiring Q&A session, and then a big jam with all of us! GUEST OF HONOUR: JEMMA FREESE Jemma Freese is an experimental jazz keyboardist and vocalist. She is one third of J Frisco, composes her own music, and plays for Maximo Park. She has played at numerous Jazz festivals including EFG London, Manchester, Gateshead, Lancaster and supported acts such as Laura Jurd, Matthew Bourne, Portico Quartet, Courtney Pine Jemma creates a space for self-reflection to explore the deepest sides of ourselves - shaping her personal experiences into sound to inspire a shared moment of discovery.
