Robert Gordon is one of the most quietly influential names in British dance music. In addition to being part of the legendary DJ/production trio Forgemasters, whose debut single was pivotal in creating the British techno scene and bleep music, he has also produced and engineered countless projects from artists such as The Human League, The Fall, Cabaret Voltaire during his time at the now legendary FON studios. If that wasn't enough, he was also one of the original founders of Warp Records.
Gordon sits down with CDR head honcho to go deep on his career, production techniques and much more.
CDR events are for all music lovers, producers and non-producers alike. Anyone with an interest in music is welcome! For the producers attending, we run OpenCDR towards the end of each event where you can listen to your works in progress and receive advice & feedback from a supportive community as well as meeting other artists and producers. You can submit music here: https://www.createdefinerelease.com/track-upload
CDR is a black-led music and talent development organisation with a deep heritage in the UK's grassroots electronic music scene. We are a community made up of generations of music producers, practitioners and fans. Our purpose is to nurture independent music makers and progress black electronic music across many genres: from Hip-hop to Brokenbeat, Techno to Jazz, Garage to Grime and the many fusions in between. We work with children and young people in schools and youth centres, as well as the older heads in clubs and venues. London based with an increasing national & international footprint, we're operating in towns and cities around the country and the world, from Bristol to Nairobi.
As a continuation of DINA's i-Now series we're hosting a series of FREE CREATIVE WORKSHOPS throughout January and February. The workshops will be run in a collaboration with local creative practicioners and arts organisations and are funded by the Arts Council.
