AlgoMech Festival concert: Sonic Pattern ft Sarah Angliss
Time & Location
About the Event
Our concert of algorithmic and mechanical performances, featuring:
Sarah Angliss performing her new album Air Loom live, featuring robitics, voice, theramin, recorders, percussion, electronics and a rarity, the Latvian clavisimbalum, centre stage. "Music possessed of an eerie instability - a whole universe unto itself brimming with fresh propositions and new directions - a shimmering minimalist masterpiece" Robert Barrry, The Wire Magazine
Simon Blackmore, using a mix of guitar, drums, electronics and code to explore the possibility of coding through making rhythms and sound (rather than sound). Rhythms are converted to text and manipulated and transformed by software creating a form of live interactive music where the actions of the performer and computer become blurred.
Ryoko Akama is a sound artist/composer/performer who approaches listening situations that magnify silence, time and space. Her work aims to offer quiet temporal/spatial experiences; employing small and fragile objects such as paper balloons and glass bottles in order to create tiny aural and visual occurrences that embody 'almost nothing' aesthetics.
Followed by our pay-as-you-feel festival closing party - keep your eyes peeled for details!
